Tristan’s “Vroom Vroom” 2nd Birthday Party! December 3, 2012

Aqua and Blue Car Party

I met Laura last year when she contacted me via Facebook with a request to design her son’s first birthday party. She wanted an Elephant theme in blue and light green. You can see photos from that party here. I noticed that she lived in my area so I ended up inviting her over one evening and helped her put together the party pieces for Tristan’s party. It was her first time throwing a party using prinables and I had fun showing her how to cut out and assemble the individual pieces. Suffice to say, a friendship developed and even though she moved to Texas, Laura asked me to create a collection for Tristan’s second birthday party.

I love designing a new collection and enjoy the entire collaboration process with my client. Laura was especially easy to work with! She asked for a fun pattern (we ended up going with chevron) in aqua and red. Her son is really into cars at the moment so that was the theme. I think everything turned out gorgeous and Laura did a fantastic job with the party. Can you believe that everything was hand-made? Tristan’s grandma even made the cupcakes and frosting from scratch.  The sandwiches were cut out into car shapes and the number two (using cookie cutters), Laura’s sister made the cake pops and the chocolate race cars with teddy grahams was a team project. The idea for the little race cars came from Pinterest.

Thank you so much Laura for letting me share the photos from Tristan’s second birthday! He is such a gorgeous boy and I look forward to working with you next year to design his 3rd birthday party printables.

This aqua and red car collection is now available in my Etsy store. You can purchase the water bottle wrappers, cupcake toppers, banner with name, car cut outs, and thank you favor tags. The favor tags are designed to be cut into squares. I love how Laura rounded the corners and stuck them on red and white Chinese style take out boxes.

Anna’s Mickey Mouse Party! November 16, 2011

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have lots of party photos from clients to share with you all… I am slowly catching up. The party I’m sharing with you today was thrown by my next door neighbour, Danielle. Her daughter, Anna, is obsessed with Mickey Mouse. Yes, you read that correctly- she loves Mickey. I think she really likes Minnie too but is totally in love with Mickey and has several soft Mickey dolls that she takes everywhere with her. So, it was a no brainer for Danielle when it came to choosing a party theme.

Danielle decided to stick to a very simple red and white color scheme. She maintained these colors throughout the party decoration and I have to tell you that this simplicity was stunning and made the Mickey party girly. For the cupcake stand, Danielle wrapped two rectangular boxes- one in red paper and the other in white. The water bottle wrappers have Mickey’s silhouette and the number two in one of his ears.

Of course, Danielle had a welcome sign on her front door! She had two banners. One above the door said Happy Birthday and the one across the front of the dessert table said Anna is Two.  She gave out goody bags contained homemade gluten-free Mickey Mouse cookies.

Danielle made a gluten free birthday cake using the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake Pan from Wilton. This cake pan is available online from Amazon and other retailers. Danielle used the Wilton Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter Set and that is also available from Amazon. She used royal icing for the cookies since this hardens unlike buttercream or whipped frosting.

Finally, I have to share a couple pics of the adorable birthday girl! Isn’t she such a cutie pie? And of course, her outfit is just precious. I’m also going to include a couple photos of my 16 month old son, Asher, looking very proud in his Mickey Mouse t-shirt!

If you are throwing a Mickey Mouse birthday party and need more inspiration, check out the previous posts, here and here! if you would like to purchase the Mickey Mouse collection, please contact me and I can set up a reserve listing in my Etsy store.
